Electric Thermal Storage (ETS)

Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) heaters are designed to use low cost, off-peak electricity for heating a home or business 24 hours a day. ETS heaters are recommended to all-electric customers on United Power's Time-of-Day Rate.

How ETS works
Electric heating elements within high-density ceramic bricks are capable of storing vast amounts of heat for extended periods of time. During off-peak hours, when United Power's Time-of-Day customers pay significantly less for electricity, the heater will store electric energy as heat. This stored heat is used to satisfy immediate heating requirements and to provide total comfort during on-peak hours, when United Power's Time-of-Day customers pay significantly higher rates for electricity.
