Our Service Area

United Power serves more than 106,000 meters across 900 square miles, broken into two noncontiguous areas - the plains northeast of Denver and two historic mountain canyons. The cooperative occupies the smallest geographic footprint of any Colorado cooperative, but also serves the second highest meter count and largest load.

The service area has not always looked the way it does today. The cooperative extended electric service to the Golden Gate and Coal Creek Canyons in the 1940s and swapped the land where Denver International Airport sits with Xcel in exchange for the Carbon Valley area in the late 1980s.
