Members have the power to help maintain a strong and resilient grid – and save energy at the same time
When energy demand hits its highest levels, costs go up, and the strain on the grid increases. That is where you come in.
Beat the Peak is a simple, voluntary program that empowers you to shift your electricity use during peak hours. When you flex your power by turning off unnecessary electronics, adjusting your thermostat, or delaying appliance use, you help lower demand and support a more reliable system.
Easy ways to Beat the Peak – and save energy and money:
- Delay the use of major appliances like dishwashers and washing machines until after 8 p.m.
- Adjust your thermostat up just a few degrees
- Turn off lights, fans, and other electronics in unoccupied rooms
- Cook outside to avoid overheating your home
- Program your EV charger to begin after 10 p.m.
By working together and delaying the use of large appliances and turning off a few lights during peak times, members can save energy and help keep the local grid strong.
