If you experienced a recent electrical outage that you believe may have caused damage or loss, please follow the steps below to file a claim. Please be aware that United Power is not responsible for damages, if said damages were caused from factors beyond our control, such as, but not limited to storms or outside interferences. In addition, United Power’s responsibilities for damages are governed by the terms of our Tariffs which impose a limit on our liability.
Damage Claims Process
- Claimant submits Damage Claim Application to United Power.
- United Power initiates an investigation upon receipt of a Damage Claim Application to determine the cause of the outage. (This could take up to 30 days).
- If it is determined, through the investigation process, that the outage was due to causes or contingencies beyond United Power’s control, as specified in the Tariffs below, the claim will be denied.
- If it is determined, through the investigation process, that the outage was within United Power’s control or we deem it necessary for further investigation, we will submit the application to United Power’s insurance carrier. (This is not a guarantee of reimbursement and insurance carrier may decide to investigate the claim on their own.)
Submit A Damage Claim
To submit a claim for damages, please fill out the Damage Claim Application and return it to United Power within fourteen (14) calendar days. It is important that you provide a complete and detailed description of the incident that you believe caused the loss. The information you provide will help in our investigation into the cause of the outage.
For any other issues or concerns, please contact the United Power Damage Claims Team. Members are reminded to please not disclose any personal or health-related information, such as social security numbers, banking information, etc. on the form.
