United Power crews, contract crews, and additional support from neighboring cooperative Poudre Valley REA worked another long day restoring power to our mountain service territory.
At this time, there are approximately 700 members still without power. Crews will continue to work this evening as long as conditions are safe. Due to the extent of the damage, some members may remain without power overnight. We encourage members to prepare for their safety and make necessary arrangements.
The area received about six inches of snow today, which slowed crew travel around the territory. Broken poles have also been a significant challenge. Repairs or replacements are time and labor intensive, and many poles are in remote locations. Additional support is lined up for Monday to support pole replacement efforts.
Most of the effort today focused around the Ralston Creek area along the Golden Gate Canyon corridor. Crews also worked around the Lincoln Hills and South Beaver Creek area; plus, a few other crews were scattered working on smaller outages throughout the territory. Rest assured that if your location is not listed here, your outage is in the system and it will be addressed.
When restoring power after a storm, utilities work from the top of the system down, restoring power to the largest groups of members first before addressing isolated outages and individual services. In many cases, repairs must be completed further upstream before power can be restored at the end of the line. If crews have not yet been to your location or were on site and then moved on, they are likely working upstream to safely restore power to your area.
We recognize how frustrating and exhausting these lengthy outages can be and appreciate your patience as our crews continue working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
