WILDFIRE SAFETY MODE ACTIVATED

Due to Red Flag Warnings across the plains, portions of United Power's territory are operating under Wildfire Safety Mode from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16.  Outages may be more common and last longer while this mode is activated.

What Is Wildfire Safety Mode?
When a Red Flag Warning is issued due to high winds and dry vegetation, United Power activates special protective settings on our equipment designed to reduce the risk of fire. This mode makes the system extra sensitive to things like branches touching lines, and immediately interrupts power where interference is detected. Crews then inspect the area before power is restored.

We understand outages are inconvenient, but this extra sensitivity is for your safety and the safety of our community. We’ll return the system to normal operation as soon as the Red Flag Warning is lifted.
